Review Biology 101: Biology According to the Days of Creation

Biology – the start of the home stretch at our home school…means the students are entering high school. For us, this has been a challenge course to teach. I love the Chemistry and Physics classes but find this class harder to teach. This is one reason I was thrilled when asked to review this DVD series. If someone has created a better way to instruct this class..I am in!

The first thing that I found exciting was that this is a Biology Course from a Biblical Perspective. Being able to present a foundation that my children can use to filter out or sort information they receive from other school sources is fantastic. I felt this series presented the Creation plan in a simple to understand, easy to explain way that answers many of the questions my children have from reading or watching other sources for their lessons.

This set of DVD’s is broken down into units that teach Biology along with the Days of Creation.

Disc #1
~ Introduction: Defining Life and life Classifications
~ Plants

Disc #2
~ Aquatic Creatures
~ Avian Creatures

Disc #3
~ Land Animals Parts 1 & 2
~ Mankind Parts 1 & 2

Disc #4
~ Genetics: A brief History of Biology, Cells and Genetics
~ PDF of teaching materials, worksheets, tests, answer keys

According to the material, this is designed for students 15 years old and up. However, the entire family will love the videos. As a bonus, the set includes a printable handbook which encourages students to review the information covered in each section. This handbook also includes a multiple choice test and discussion questions.

Looking at the videos from a teacher’s position, I found the information detailed enough to be used as a high school credit for those students needing a general course of study.  For those looking for a career path that would require a deeper knowledge of Biology, the package does include a PDF titled, “Course Accreditation Program” that lays out supplemental suggestions  for those families who want a year-long biology course.

This set of DVD’s would be wonderful for families wanting to teach creation even if they are not homeschooling. These videos provide a clear Christian foundation that students can use to filter the information they are provided in public or private school settings.

Additionally, you can enter to win a set of DVDs for either the Biology 101 or the Chemistry 101 series. One reader will have their choice of products. All entries are optional and will be verified on the Rafflecopter. This giveaway is open the US residents, 18+ and will run through June 14th.

I love this my son is not quite ready for this (12) but we are homeschooling too and Biology happens to be one of his major interests.

Sounds great! Science is one part of homeschool that makes me nervous sometimes, so I’m excited to find out about things that make it easier, like this! Thank you so much!!
