Candied Popcorn
We love popcorn and until today I would have had to say that our favorite was the White Chocolate Popcorn but I am not so sure now…
Candied Popcorn is just too cute and easy to make. I love that you can make it in any flavor or color that you can find jello powder – and we all know that jello comes in a ton of flavors!
Give this recipe a try the next time you are making popcorn for a party or an event. We used Strawberry and S’Lime for this batch.
Ingredients:
1 bag of popped microwave popcorn- full size not snack
3 Tablespoons Light Corn syrup
1/4 cup butter
3 oz box of Jello
1/2 cup sugar
Directions:
Pop popcorn and pour in large bowl to cool – pick out remaining kernels
Combine butter and corn syrup in a saucepan and heat over medium high
Once hot and bubbly, stir in the jello and sugar
Stir continuously until mixture starts to boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes
Drizzle the mixture over the popcorn and stir to coat
Spread popcorn on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper or foil
Bake at 300 for 10 minutes
Completely cool before breaking popcorn apart and storing in airtight containers or bags
Family Votes: The strawberry had the best flavor but the S’Lime had the best consistency. Not sure if that was user error (differences in chefs) but we will be trying other flavors for the upcoming holidays.
I have not make Candied Popcorn in years. My Mom made it all the time when I was growing up. I want to make the colorful popcorn for my niece and nephew!!
(Candied Popcorn) When I was a child my father use to make us kids popcorn balls to eat every now and then. It was such a treat to us whenever he made those for us.
What a great idea! Kiddos will love it!
I will absolutely try this! Thanks for sharing!
