Dealing with Anxiety
Sometimes life gets to be a little anxious for me. It’s usually a gradual process that sneaks up on me and then blossoms into a full blown storm! But I’ve found prescription drugs can cause ugly side effects, so I’ve been using 5-HTP as I’m dealing with anxiety in a more natural way.
Stress is everywhere. Many of us forget the beauty of each day because of our anxieties and then overindulge in carb-laden foods for short-term comfort. We may not be able to change the events that cause the stress but with Natrol 5-HTP we can change how we deal with them. 5-Hydroxytryptophan (commonly called 5-HTP) is an amino acid that participates in the synthesis of serotonin, the body’s chemical messenger that plays a key role in enhancing mood and controlling appetite. Look for Natrol 5-HTP which is extracted from the seeds of the African griffonia simplicifolia plant.
For me, anxiety usually is tangled up with a poor diet, sleep problems, and even mild depression. I don’t feel well, so I eat comfort food which is not a great diet in large quantities, which makes me not feel well so I don’t get enough sleep, etc.
And some of the prescription drugs on the market cause issues like upset stomach, being drowsy, headaches, and other irritating symptoms that are just as bad if not worse than dealing with the anxiety!

I like that it’s derived from the seeds of a plant and not just a bunch of chemicals I’m putting in my body. It has an impact on my body’s serotonin level, which helps improve my moods and even mildly control my appetite (bonus)!
Natrol makes a quick dissolve 5-HTP that I find very easy to take. The tablets dissolve in your mouth, and you don’t need water to take them. I can keep the bottle in my purse and not worry about trying to choke down a few pills and waiting for them to take effect.
The bottle says to take 1 tablet up to two times daily, depending on the amount of impact you find you need. I like to take mine first thing in the morning and then after lunch until I get to feeling better. Then I go back to just 1 a day.
Other natural treatments I use along with 5-HTP for my anxiety? Chamomile tea, deep breathing exercises, yoga and prayer. I find they work wonderfully together!
