Review: Heroes of History (Books 1-5)
Heroes of History (Books 1-5)
By: Janet Benge, Geoff Benge
Heroes of History (Books 1-5) is the beginning set to a wonderful biography series that brings history to life. Each book in the series covers the life of a Hero. Each book caught our attention and begged to be finished. The little ones didn’t want me to stop reading to them. The older children found them interesting and I even over heard them talking about a couple things they read that they thought were pretty cool. Pretty cool from teenage girls is amazing!
As a homeschooling mom, I like that they have a study guide that can be used to direct a more in depth study. I didn’t use them with this review, but will be ordering them with the next five books in the series.
These would make a wonderful gift for a young family to read together. The heroes these books center around lived fascinating lives. They were responsible for changes in the course of our history.
- George Washington Carver: From Slave to Scientist
- Abraham Lincoln: A New Birth of Freedom
- Meriwether Lewis: Off the Edge of the Map
- George Washington: True Patriot
- William Penn: Liberty and Justice for All

These books are great in teaching your young children about history without it being boring or too complicated for them to comprehend. I wished I would’ve paid more attention to history while in school, as I never realized just how important history affects your how you perceive your present day and future.
