Ripley’s Guinness World Records {Review}
When you’re on the parkway in Gatlinburg, you should really make a point to stop into the Ripley’s Guinness World Records museum to check out the fascinating records and items on display! This one was a hit with the whole family as it has something for everyone, no matter what they were interested in!
The amazing book has come to life through incredible displays, cool interactive games, trivia, themed galleries and video! Enjoy hundreds of unbelievable exhibits of World Records from amazing groups of sports, space, animals, food, human achievement and more.
Featured memorabilia of famous record holders like Elvis, The Beatles, Michael Jordan, Michael Jackson, and MUCH More!
I’d never explored a world records museum before, but I’ve looked through the book. This was a great museum to cruise through with the family, and it was funny what got some of us excited to see!
They had wonderful displays set up to tell visitors about the various records. Such as displays about Michael Jackson, Marilyn Monroe, NASA projects, books, circus people, sports and more! I was amazed at some of the records we came across, such as:
- The tallest man living is Sultan Kösen (Turkey, b.10 December 1982) who measured 251 cm (8 ft 3 in) in Ankara, Turkey, on 08 February 2011.
- The largest gathering of people dressed as princesses was 351 and was achieved by Festival Leisure Park, Empire Cinemas and Disney and was organised by Key Lime PR & Marketing (All UK) in Festival Leisure Park (UK) on Saturday 17 May 2014.
- On 9 November 2012, Hank Chien (USA) beat his own world record once again by achieving the highest score on Donkey Kong (Nintendo, 1981), with a total of 1,138,600 points.
- The longest Elvis Presley singing marathon is 43 hr 11 min 11 sec performed by Thomas ‘Curtis’ Gäthje (Germany) at Modehaus Böttcher, Heide, Germany, on 24-26 June 2004.
- The fastest time to enter a zipped suitcase is 5.43 seconds achieved by Leslie Tipton (USA) on 14 September 2009 in New York, USA on the LIVE! with Regis & Kelly show.
And one of the best parts of all? There are several stations set up for you to try to set your own world record! I tried to “smash” concrete tiles, kick a soccer ball, and become the worlds fastest typer! It was great to have the family cheering me on as we competed at the different challenges.
This is definitely family friendly and would take anywhere from 30 minutes and up, depending on how much you stop and read all the signs and plaques.
Very neat place, didn’t know they had one
