Simple Fresh Fruit Salad

Simple Fresh Fruit Salad

Fresh Fruit Salad
This simple fresh fruit salad is one that can be found in my refrigerator all year long.
Everyone at my house loves fruit so a big bowl of this gets made at least twice a week. And when we are traveling, we live off of what ever fruit we can find in the area. There is something so comforting to me about a huge bowl of fresh fruit.

Ingredients:
1 pound White, Red or Black Seedless Grapes – sliced lengthwise
1 pound Strawberries – topped and quartered
4 Oranges – peeled and sliced
1 Apple – diced
2 Plums – diced
~ The above fruit are available year around in our area stores. When available, we like to add Blackberries and Raspberries to the mix. We usually don't add apples or bananas because they get “ugly” according to my children.

Directions:
Wash all the fruit before slicing
Combine in large bowl with lid
Store in refrigerator for up to three days

Serving Suggestions:
1. Sprinkle a little Splenda or Sugar over fruit  (my favorite)
2. Add a dollop of Cool Whip
3. Serve over a slice of pound cake or angel food cake

So what healthy snack or dessert do you keep in your fridge like my Simple Fresh Fruit Salad?

It is a good idea to have a bowl of different fruit on hand in your frig. When you’re feeling like a snack it’ll be easy to put some in a bowl and not have to prepare anything. Plus, fruit is good for you.

Wow, this gives me so many new ideas. I’ll skip the sweetener and Cool Whip though. These fruits alone are usually sweet enough for me. I would just add the apples, and bananas at meal time so they don’t have time to “get ugly”

Simplicity rules! Once a week all summer I make a huge bowl of something like this and include as many different fruits as possible, including “exotics” such as pom seeds, mango….my family calls it “Fruit-ah!”

That looks really delicious! Fruit salads are pretty rare in the winter, but we usually have several a week during the spring when there is fruit in the orchard and garden!

We usually keep a container of mixed berries in the fridge to throw on top of yogurt, oatmeal, or in smoothies. I like the idea of adding kiwi and grapes for a more colorful and easy side dish for breakfasts and lunches.

There is nothing like a fresh fruit salad to make you feel refreshed–even in the winter!! I really should make one to snack on instead of cookies!!
