Sour Candy Grapes

August 4, 2022 SimplySherryl 184 Comments

Sour Candy Grapes

Sour Candy Grapes

Since we discovered that jello makes an awesome candy coating on popcorn, we have been looking for ways to use it on other items. SO why not on grapes? And that is how our sour candy grapes were born!

Ingredients:
1 lb bag of Grapes
1 large box Jello – Green (we used Jolly Rancher Sour Apple)

Directions:
Pour Jello into a serving size bowl
Remove stems and wash grapes
Toss the grapes and roll them around in the jello until well coated
Place coated grapes on a tray and allow them to dry for about an hour in the refrigerator

Sour Candy Grapes

We like to freeze some of the sour grapes and use them in beverages as ice cubes. Lime coated grapes add just a little hint of flavor to your coke or iced tea.

Watermelon is another favorite flavor at our house.

Note: If you use the colorless flavors, your grapes will have a white coating on them. No difference in the taste, just the appearance. If you use the jello that contains the dyes, you will have brightly colored grapes…and fingertips! Remember to have your little ones bite the grapes in half rather than place whole grape in their mouth…or cut them in half for them.

Try this recipe… let us know what flavors you made and how you like them!

I love the idea of freezing them to use as ice cubes. I wish I would have read this last week. I got a call from my husband and he said “is there a reason you put the grapes in the freezer?” It must have been one of those absent minded moments because I had no intention of doing that! Now, I can do it on purpose!
