A True Friend is Someone Who…

#BoostYourBlog

True Friend

The common lead in to this statement is:  A friend is someone who you can call to bail you out of trouble BUT a true friend is one that will need to be bailed out as well. While this is a silly statement, I find it alarming false.

To me, a true friend is one that will get in my face when I need it. They will lovingly come to me and correct me when I stumble down a path that I don’t need to be on. According to scripture, we are to address our “brothers and sisters” in Christ when they are in sin.

Matthew 18:15 If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over.

To me, this is the definition of a true friend. I don’t need just a cheerleader. I don’t need someone to always agree with everything I say… I need honest opinions and lovingly given correction.

I believe we are encouraged to spur each other on to greater things. Friends should lift us up and catch us when we fall. I hope that I am that type of friend to the small circle that I call MY FRIENDS.

I love this and it’s so on point. Those in my inner circle of friends are women that I know will have my back 100% but will, also, take the time to call me out when necessary and correct me with love.

  2. I so needed to read this. I do have one friend that I can call my True Friend…though we went 10 years with no communication, but when we got back together, we just picked it up like we never were apart. We just had lunch the other day and so I know she is true…she even got into my face…about my M condition. Thanks for sharing this with your readers. I think I’ll send her a message letting her know I’m thinking of her.
