How to Make Peppered Bacon

Bacon… I love bacon! I don’t like the mess of cooking bacon but solved that problem a long time ago.  Read my posts on Kitchen Tips for Bacon and Cooking No Mess Bacon for a simple way to make large batches of bacon without the smell, grease or mess.

My favorite bacon is peppered bacon! I noticed when shopping that the peppered bacon came in a smaller package for the same price as the smoked or regular bacon… hmmm… pepper isn’t expensive.. Why would I pay more for less of anything?

How to Make Peppered Bacon

How hard can it be to make peppered bacon? IT ISN’T!  Simply take one package of regular thick cut bacon (I tried it on the thin regular cut style but the pepper didn’t stick to it as well). Open package of bacon and separate slices on a piece of foil. Using a pepper mill, apply as much pepper as you think it appropriate to both sides of the bacon. Stack the bacon slices and place in a plastic baggie overnight. Prepare are usual.

I would suggest you prepare this when no one else is at home. At my house, as soon as the oven starts to warm the bacon the children start trolling the kitchen! I made two batches, which is just over two pounds of bacon. By the time I was ready to package it and place in freezer…..there was MAYBE one half a pound left!

Hope you enjoy this little trick that can save you money and help make your food special. :)
