A Dog’s Purpose
I’ve found that there are two types of people in this world: dog people, and everyone else. Dogs come in all shapes, sizes, colors and attitudes, just like people do! And I must admit, I haven’t always been a dog person but…the dog we got for my little boy has somehow become my dog. And I’m not completely sure what a dog’s purpose is exactly, except to love.
A Dog’s Purpose―the #1 New York Times bestseller―is heading to the big screen! Based on the beloved bestselling novel by W. Bruce Cameron, A Dog’s Purpose, from director Lasse Hallström (The Cider House Rules, Dear John, The 100-Foot Journey), shares the soulful and surprising story of one devoted dog (voiced by Josh Gad) who finds the meaning of his own existence through the lives of the humans he teaches to laugh and love. The family film told from the dog’s perspective also stars Britt Robertson, KJ Apa, John Ortiz, Peggy Lipton, Juliet Rylance, Luke Kirby, Pooch Hall and Dennis Quaid. A Dog’s Purpose is produced by Gavin Polone (Zombieland, TV’s Gilmore Girls). The film from Amblin Entertainment and Walden Media will be distributed by Universal Pictures. Screenplay by W. Bruce Cameron & Cathryn Michon and Audrey Wells and Maya Forbes & Wally Wolodarsky.
Heartwarming, insightful, and often laugh-out-loud funny, A Dog’s Purpose is not only the emotional and hilarious story of a dog’s many lives, but also a dog’s-eye commentary on human relationships and the unbreakable bonds between man and man’s best friend. This moving and beautifully crafted story teaches us that love never dies, that our true friends are always with us, and that every creature on earth is born with a purpose.
Bailey’s story continues in A Dog’s Journey, the charming New York Times and USA Today bestselling direct sequel to A Dog’s Purpose.
A Dog’s Purpose was a book written by W. Bruce Cameron and then it was recently made into a movie. If you haven’t read it or seen the film, be sure to check out the links below to pick either (or both) up for yourself!
It’s a story about relationships and life lessons as told through the voice of a dog. It’s definitely suitable for the family and has plenty of familiar faces that you’d recognize. There’s plenty of laughter, cheering for the hero, and a few tears. If you love animals, or you’re a dog person, make sure you don’t miss either the book or the movie.
Now, if you have a furry family member or two (or three) then you know how important eating well and playtime are!
We’re always cooking in this house, so cooking for the dog is not a big deal. I know friends that cook every day for their dog! But with recent health scares in the pet food industry, I can see the attraction in making your own treats. The Organic Dog Biscuit Cookbook contains over 100 paw licking good recipes, all without corn, wheat or soy ingredients! They range from treats & biscuits to pupcakes, smoothies and more. Honestly, with ingredients like oat flour, honey, vegetables, and yogurt, I may have trouble keeping my kids out of the dog treats; and they are made with organic real food, so there’s no harm in the family sharing either.
Be sure to talk to your vet or local pet supply store for suggestions on dog food brands as well as daily feeding amounts. And dog bowls come in a variety of materials and sizes, so be sure you have the right size picked out for your furry friend!
And let’s not forget playtime! My dog Maya loves to play tug of war with anything from a rope to a frisbee toy. She will hang on for dear life; but she won’t chase a ball to save her life. And if something has a squeeker in it, she just digs the noise maker out and then the destroyed toy is thrown away. I definitely prefer toys that will stand up to her rough play and I don’t have to worry about small pieces snapping off or choking her. Again, a lot of toys are only meant for certain breeds or sizes of dogs, so make sure you know what is right for your for legged friend.
Whether you have a small little lap dog or a whole horde of furry beasts, we only want the best for them. Make sure to check out A Dog’s Purpose on film and in print, and share any fun stories or pictures of your pups with us below or on any of our social channels!
